We've just finished the boarders for the two small organic gardening plots in Canggu. One of them will be used for vegetables and the other for spices and herbs. Well, that was the idea but in the end it got abit mixed up. Here's a couple of pictures of where we are at right now.

This is the main plot for vegetables


In it we have a big chili plant which grew naturally


Some sela or ubi.. Sweet potatoes


A sort of long nut, kacang. Not so sure about the name of it.


The herbs and spices plot. Slightly smaller with only 2 lanes in the middle.


Some long chili's already looking good.


This is a little side-project of planting 'Flamboyan' tree seeds. Flamboyan is a big tree which explode with orange coloured flowers every year. A great big tree great for shading.


Kangkung is spreading. Good and healthy veggie rich in Iron if i'm not mistaken.


This. My favourite. Kunyit or Turmeric. We grow regular Turmeric, White Turmeric, Jahe / Ginger and Cekuh / Kencur and use them for healthy drinks, known as Jamu.


We use no pesticides, herbicides or even fertilizer at the moment. If needed we will add our own organic fertilizer and if pesticides or herbicides should be needed we will use neemtree oil which is completely harmless for the plants and soil but does annoy any pests.

If you have any suggestions of other things to grow i'm all eyes!

Amazing Tompa. I am a little jealous. haha Being from the South, I'm use to having a vegetable garden. I'm trying to start a small (potted for now) garden at our house. Starting in pots as we plan to move again next year. I only have chili's and lime planted so far but intend to add tomatoes, ubi, cucumber and various spices later.

While we're talking vegetables, do you know where I can get tomato plants from?

Not really sure. I've never grown tomatoes. Potted gardens are a great compliment to the porch or balcony if you don't have any garden space around the compound.

Let me know if you found any tomato plants and once you get somewhere more permanent then I hope to have an in ground garden also!

Ok. What's your secret, Tompa, for growing cabe/chilli? Sunlight, water, drainage? I started 3 different types of cabe in 5 different pots and I'm having success with 3 of the pots so far but I keep moving them around trying to get the best light for them...thoughts? Advice? We use cabe like crazy in my house so I hope to successfully grow some at home.

Also, I'm trying my hand at kacang merah. I was successful in the sprouting but only 2 plants have survived from the 6 beans I planted. I read online that bugs usually kill this type of plant. One sprout is doing well with little white flowers coming up and now the remaining plants leaves look dry even though the soil is wet (I'm thinking too much sun/heat). Any tips?
