(2/1/2010) “In a dramatic change to the current immigration rules, starting on January 26, 2010, foreign tourists from countries eligible for "visa-on-arrival" will now be given a 30 day visa that can be renewed for an additional 30 days.”
”As part of the new changes the 7-day visa at US$10 has been abolished, with the 30-day US$25 visa (renewable for an additional 30 days) being the only visa that can be issued to eligible tourists.”

Could be a good idea to remove the 7-day VOA. The 30-day VOA could work as a carrot for longer stays.

That money could sure be a boost for the provincial governments funds and could come to good use in Bali. It's not like Jakarta has done anything to earn that money.

I was emailed this article on Bali Discovery and that's the same thing I thought was they changed it in order to get people to stay longer and spend more money....I doubt they changed it just to make things easier for visitors...but either way, I welcome this change. NOW, if we just didn't have to leave the country every 6 months on social...once a year would be okay, but twice a year is killer for my pockets!

Go Kitas Girlfriend!
The Bali Ide Visa Agency charge 8.5 million rupiah for the 1 Year Husband/Wife Kitas and you won't have to depart from Bali/Indonesia apart from for the first application. The following year you apply within the country. If it's for work then it's another US$1200 in taxes on top of that. Could be worth doing a calculation on your expenses of going abroad, tickets, hotels twice a year as compared to the agent fee's and taxes. Who knows, may be it adds up?
